This is Your Year!! (Live Better By Serving Better)

Published by ryanjeffery under Sharpen Thyself

SERVING WELL = LIVING WELL

Martin Luther King emphasized a short statement containing all the wisdom we need to live a magnificent life. He stated, “Service is the rent we pay for living on earth”. The space we occupy on this earth improves when the service we render the world improves. Simply put, serving well = living well. Yet the question remains, “how can we serve the world in a bigger and better fashion?

LIVING WELL = SERVING WELL

On the flip side, our capacity to serve is dependent upon how good we live. Thankfully, the art of good living is not limited to income, environment, or genetics. Better living is our prize when we embrace optimal lifestyle principles. These principles are as unbiased as the law of gravity. No matter your gender, race, background, or religion, there are seven principles that will accelerate your reception of the best life has to offer.

KNOW T.H.Y.S.E.L.F

I have coined the acronym, “T.H.Y.S.E.L.F” in order to share principles that I am certain will enhance the quality of your lifestyle. Here are the general principles:

T. = Time Management: Your system for completing everything that needs to be done for God, yourself, and others.

H. = Health Laws: There are eight natural laws that safeguard and improve your health (contact our office for details).

Y. = Your Mind: Any mind can become brilliant or more advanced by building upon the principles of, “spiritual intelligence”.

S. = Spirituality : No matter your religion, church affiliation, or non-affiliations, your spiritual depth is determined by how richly you experience the God-given endowments of: PATIENCE, FAITH, & OBEDIENCE.

E. = Eternal Influence: When who you are and what you do permanently improves each environment you are a member of.

L. = Loving Relationships: The degree of fulfillment you experience from your three types of relationships:

  • A) Your relationship with God.
  • B) Your relationship with others.

  • C) Your relationship with yourself.

F. = Financial: The degree of financial strength you have from applying the, “7 Monetary Techniques”:

1) Receiving

2) Creating

3) Giving

4) Saving

5) Managing

6) Investing

7) Distributing

“I aint Skurred.”

Published by ryanjeffery under Time Management

“Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.”……anon

Everyone agrees that fear causes inaction. Yet, fear often triggers us to major in minor task. This is referred to as, “laziness through activity.” Confront your most feared task before anything else today. This will unleash greater energy for everything else. The habit of doing feared things first causes you to grow on a daily basis. If your dreams are bigger than your fears, repeat after me: “I aint skured!” Have a great Monday.

The Legacy of Dad

“Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.” Jim Rohn

This past Fathers day I reflected on how my father passed on a legacy of learning to my sister and I.  He had a unique ability to access any information needed to improve himself in any particular area.  This was before the information era.  Today, information is more accessible than ever.  The problems that we face allow us new opportunities for learning.  Have a great Monday!

Ryan

Today We Conquer!!

“The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug.”– Mark Twain

This morning I looked at my “to do” list and started to yawn.  How boring.  Suddenly, I remembered reading about the transformational power of words.  I scratched off the words, “to do”, and replaced it with, “to conquer”.  Now I’m ready to take life on.  It’s amazing how one shift in word choice can change our outlook on a regular Monday.  Don’t DO anything today, CONQUER it!

Are You Ready To Perform?

Published by ryanjeffery under Monday Motivation

Don’t lower your expectations to meet your performance. Raise your level of performance to meet your expectations. Expect the best of yourself, and then do what is necessary to make it a reality.”……….. Ralph Marston

What would you attempt to achieve NOW if nothing stood in your way?  There is one attribute that will enable you to perform in spite of any barrier.  All top performers share this attribute…………. Highly developed levels of confidence!

The top performers on your job are the most confident people at your job.

The top performers in the sports/entertainment world are the most confident people in the sports/entertainment world.

The top performers in your field of business are the most confident people in your field of business.

No matter your niche, confidence triggers better performance.  You will never OUTPERFORM your level of CONFIDENCE.  So, how do we continue to raise the confidence which translates to better performance?  Here it is:  Confidence is the result of FAITH.  More specifically, personal confidence is the result of faith in the following three areas:

The degree of faith you have in your ability to effect outcomes.

The degree of faith you have in the potential of people around you to effect outcomes.

The degree of faith you have that every circumstance will eventually work out in your best interest.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”……Romans 10:17.  Have a great Monday!

Multi-Tasking or Multi-Tacky?

“When most people refer to multitasking, they are really talking about switchtasking. No matter how they do it, switching rapidly between two things is just not very efficient or effective.”…………..Dave Crenshaw

Many people spend the whole day DOING things.  Yet, few people end the day with the most important things DONE.  Many experts suggest identifying a few important task to focus on completing each day.   Admittedly, listening to music or an educational audio can add motivation to menial task like cleaning, driving, or paying bills.  On the other hand, the inability to focus on people is just multi-tacky.

Here are some of the multi-tacky things I have witnessed recently:

- Someone answering a cell-phone in the middle of a presentation.

- A friend pouring their heart out to another friend on the phone when suddenly the listener said. “Hold on, I’ve gotta see who this is.”  Don’t you have voice mail?

- Someone in the gym walking around socializing with everyone while they workout.  Apparently he couldn’t read everyone’s body language: “Go away!  We can talk later.”

In the words of Stephen Covey, “While you can think in terms of efficiency in dealing with time, a principle-centered person thinks in terms of effectiveness in dealing with people.”  This is a balance worth pursuing.  Have a great Monday!

What You’re Reading Might Save Your Life!

“It is what you read when you don’t have to that determines what you will be when you can’t help it.”…….Oscar Wilde

According to his physicians, Paul Wenner was on the verge of death.  By some twist of fate he stumbled into a used book store and purchased a health book (”Counsels on Diet and Foods”) for less than a dollar.  As he read and applied the principles his condition reversed.  Shortly after he founded Gardenburger Inc. which still generates millions in revenue.  This is just one of many stories attributed to the influence of a good book.

In the same way, what you read may be the impetus to help you reach an important milestone.  Have a great Memorial Monday!

My Mentor Chewed Me Out!

“A single conversation across the table with a wise man is worth a month’s study of books. “…….Chinese Proverb

Years ago I was sorting through goals as a graduate student at Towson University.  One day a mentor picked me up and we headed to eat lunch.  As we cruised in his Mercedes he began asking me about my future goals.  I started talking about all the things I planned to do after graduation.  He replied, “Why do you have to wait until after graduation”?  When you become more successful, your time will be in greater demand than it is now.  You better get those projects started now!”  In other words, small practical steps from where you stand are critical to achieving your goals.  In the end, consistency is the only thing that works.  Hopefully, you are one step closer to your goals today than yesterday.  Have a great Monday!

To Your Success,

Making Things Happen!

“Things may come to those who wait…but only the things left by those who hustle.” Abraham Lincoln

It has been said that there are 3 types of people-

1) Those who make things happen
2) Those who wait for things to happen
3) Those who ask, what happened?

Here is the dilema you face: When you get close to another goal, opposition seems to magically appear! Why is that?

Here are some reasons:

-God wants you to lean on him for persistence and perserverance

-Your friends unconsciously discourage you because they detect you are about to leave them behind or threaten their self-esteem.

-Your mind will not allow you to reach the next level until you develop higher levels of confidence.

The reasons are endless. The bottom line is that action oriented people always have to break new barriers. Sometimes you have to just put one foot in fron of the other. Keep on keeping on.

To Your Success,

Ryan
